这个英文法律短语的功能相当于普通英语中的without affecting。跟在without prejudice to这个短语之后的通常是一个指代某项法律条款的名词。指不要影响或损害其规限的事物。在汉语中，其意思相当于“在不损害……的原则下”、“在不影响……的情况下”、“……不受影响”、“不妨碍……”、以及“不规限……”等等。试看以下几个例子：

尽管without prejudice to在英文法律条文中是个随处可见的词组，但在中译英的过程中却很少被使用。在法律上该短语指得是“对法定利益无影响或无损害”。因此，汉语中最合适的表述应该是“在不损害……的原则下”或“在……不受影响的情况下”。因此如果将例3的译文改写成“在您的权利和任意决定权不受影响的情况下”，将是更通顺、流畅、符合汉语习惯的句子。所以，尽管该短语译法多多，需要强调的是，其适应性最强的译法是“在不损害……的原则下”或“在……不受影响的情况下”。
